Jessie Tieva is Abel’s mom, a fierce advocate for children with medical complexity, and the founder of Born Abel, a nonprofit dedicated to celebrating every child’s life and story.

She began writing children’s books in the NICU—surrounded by monitors, medical charts, and prayers—after walking the journey of loving a medically complex child. What started as a way to process grief and hope became a mission to give families words when they don’t have them and stories when the world feels overwhelming.

Through her work, Jessie advocates for dignity, inclusion, and compassionate care for medically complex, disabled, NICU, and angel children. Her writing is rooted in lived experience and deep love, offering families comfort, representation, and the reminder that every life—no matter the diagnosis or duration—is meaningful.
